Salesforce Winter ‘27 Release – What’s New for Advanced Approvals in Revenue Cloud?

Summer ‘26 has come and gone, and now the Winter ‘27 Salesforce release is once again packed full of Revenue Cloud updates.

One key area of Revenue Cloud that is receiving great updates in Winter ‘27 is Advanced Approvals. Advanced Approvals use Salesforce Flow Orchestration to automate complex, parallel and multi-tier approvals, which offers much more flexibility than standard approval processes.

If you are already using Advanced Approvals, or are looking to make the switch over, then read on to see what the new release brings and how it could benefit you and your teams.

What’s new?

Below are the 3 new updates coming in the Winter ‘27 Salesforce Release:

  1. Slack Approval Notifications can now be sent to Group and Queue Members

With Advanced Approvals, the approval can be sent to a Group or Queue to be approved/rejected, rather than an individual. However, prior to Winter ‘27, this would not generate any notifications in Slack.

With the new release, Slack approval notifications can now be sent to Group/Queue members, allowing approvers to review and action approvals within Slack, and reducing the need for reviewing notifications within Salesforce or relying on an email.

  1. Delegate Approvals in Advance Approvals

Approvals can cause bottlenecks in a sales process, especially when approvers are on holiday or unavailable. With the new release, approvers can assign delegates who can approve/reject approval requests on their behalf.

Approval Delegation records can be set up to allow approval delegation, and this will help keep approval workflows moving forward.

  1. Limit Approval Work Item Visibility

For some businesses, confidentiality and being able to limit visibility of certain processes is key. In Winter ‘27, you can limit visibility of Work Items (approval records) by using standard Org Wide Default and Sharing Settings.

With the new release, you can set the OWD to private and then open up visibility via Sharing Rules. This will be a key change for businesses with a big focus on confidentiality and allows more flexibility in what can be controlled/configured.

What to do/How to prepare

Not all updates in a new release will be relevant to your business or processes, so it is important to identify if any of these 3 new changes will be required. We can determine if this is required by answering these questions:

  1. Do you use Slack for approval notifications and send approvals to Group/Queues?
  2. Do you need to allow users to delegate approvals during holidays or other times of unavailability?
  3. Is confidentiality important to your org, and you need to be able to make approvals private?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, then you it is advisable to prepare a preview sandbox (if you do not have one already) and enable the new features to test them within your existing processes.

This will enable you to be ready for the new release and implement the updates into your live environment as soon as possible. However, one key thing to be aware of is that release notes/updates can change, so waiting for confirmation that the updates are live is important.
