From Idea to Innovation: Team Nebula’s Agentforce Hackathon Journey

DX made its London debut, and for Nebula, it was an unforgettable experience. It was an opportunity to dive headfirst into the world of Agentforce and demonstrate what our team could achieve. We’re absolutely delighted to share that our incredible team made it all the way to the finals of the Agentforce Hackathon!

The Challenge: Building with Agentforce

The Agentforce Hackathon at TDX London wasn’t just about showing off. It was about pushing the boundaries of what’s possible with Salesforce’s Agentforce platform. The challenge? To build groundbreaking AI-powered agent solutions that could transform real-world business problems in less than three weeks. 

Our team, aptly named “Team Nebula“, was itching to get stuck in. The hackathon kicked off with a virtual submission phase, during which we were required to submit a 5-minute video showcasing our agent. We began our process by determining our use case. As a group, we began by listing possible solutions, which we then narrowed down to a short list. We ultimately decided on our use case based on what we felt we could achieve within the timeframe and have the most significant impact. Before logging into our org, we decided on the key features, designed how the agent would work and then began the build process.

Our Idea: A Healthcare Scheduling Agent

We decided to build a healthcare scheduling agent. Through our experience working with customers in the industry, we understand that they face numerous challenges. Our solution was designed to simplify the scheduling process for carers’ appointments. This included determining travel time between appointments and ensuring that client and family-specific needs are met.

For our demo, we’ve used a fictional company called Nebula Cares to showcase its capabilities.

Here’s a look at the key features we’ve focused on for this first version:

  • Shift Scheduling: This is where the real magic happens. Utilising the power of AI, our agent recommends suitable carers for specific appointments. It takes into account their shift patterns, availability, skills required for the job, and crucially, whether they have enough time to travel between appointments. 
  • Sickness and Holiday Cover: We all know how vital carer appointments are, so if a carer is unable to work, we need to find a replacement promptly. The agent then finds all the shifts for the person who called in sick were scheduled for that day and uses the same clever logic as before to find suitable replacements.
  • Asking Questions about Shifts and Appointments: This feature is used for planning schedule changes. You can ask questions about carers and their scheduled shifts, including who it is with and when or about clients and their appointment needs, if they have been assigned a carer, and if so, who it is.

The impact this solution would bring to customers is significant. It directly addresses the core challenges of high demand and worker shortages by making the scheduling process far more efficient and intelligent. By automating the suggestion and assignment of carers, it reduces the manual effort involved in scheduling and helps ensure the right people are in the right place at the right time.

The Live Showdown at TDX London

Making it to the finals meant we got to pitch our solution live at TDX London on 11th June. This was an incredible opportunity to showcase our hard work and the potential of Agentforce to a larger audience.

On the day, the Agentforce Theatre was standing-room-only. Our team delivered a fantastic presentation demonstrating how our Agentforce solution could significantly improve the lives of the scheduling teams in the healthcare industry by simplifying their processes and providing capabilities that are currently manual.
