The Winter ’23 release account engagement preview is out, and I’ve rounded up my main takeaways so far. These are subject to change so make sure you check back closer to the release dates. The release is scheduled for 9/9, 7/10 and 14/10 weekends.
External Actions
You may be using the Marketing App Extension feature already to bring data into Pardot from external platforms. From Winter ’23 you’ll now be able to call out to external platforms from engagement programs. We’ve been lucky enough to pilot this feature over the summer and we’ve played with a few use cases. Our favourites are:
- Send SMS to prospect via an external platform
- Create a case
- Create an experience user
Simplify Prospect Opt-Out Status
This will be available from 26th August 2022. You will need to choose a source of truth for prospect opt out status; Pardot or Salesforce. There are some scenarios to consider here, so I’d recommend carefully reviewing how your business needs this to work.
Review Prospects with Bot-Like Activity
I like to think of bots as the cockroaches of the digital world. Annoying, and hard to completely get rid of. Luckily, Account Engagement is making it easier to review prospects with bot-like behaviour. Bot-like behaviour is typically a prospect with a large amount of activities, such as emails clicks and page views.

Give Users the Account Engagement Permission Sets
This is one I’m personally quite excited about. Currently, only Users that have a Salesforce licence can access the Pardot Lightning App. Identity licences are available for Users that only require access to pi.pardot.com. A new permission set and permission set licence coming this winter will allow users on an identity licence to access the Pardot Lightning App! Users will not be able to access any Salesforce records such as Campaigns, but they will be able to access things like Snippets.
Sync All Prospect Records with One Click
Hold onto your hats, admins, consultants and super users. Instead of editing a custom field mapped to a salesforce field to trigger a full sync, there will now be a simple button! When you need to run a full sync of prospects with your Leads and Contacts, you can use the ‘sync all prospect records’ button on the connector instead.
Pardot Classic App Retirement
I’ve had a few questions about the classic app retirement this year. This only relates to the classic Pardot app for Salesforce. The Pardot Lightning App and pi.pardot.com will remain. However, if you aren’t sure which interface you’re using, check out this article to learn more.
