Pardot already offers the option to add IP location to your account, but they have recently announced that this feature will soon be enabled on all Pardot accounts!
What is IP location?
IP location is the mapping of an IP address to the geographic location of the internet from your connected device. Therefore, this means that Pardot is able to see where your are when you access your account.
What is this feature?
Pardot will now be looking at your IP address when you login. If your login attempt to Pardot is from an unrecognised IP location, then your login attempt will be blocked.
When this occurs, an in-app message will direct you to check your email to retrieve an activation link. Clicking this link will then verify your login and activate the new location.
After activation you can login as normal.
Note: Each time you clear your cookies or access Pardot from a new location, you will be prompted to activate again.
What actions do I need to take?
Prepare your users for this change by following these steps:
- Make sure user email addresses are valid, and can receive emails from Pardot.
- Let your users know about the change in the login process.
You don’t need to take any further action if you already have IP Location Activation enabled in your account.
What login features does this impact?
IP activation is required when accessing pi.pardot.com, using single sign-on with Salesforce, and using Pardot iframes in Salesforce. For more information, see Limiting Access By IP Address.
This change does not affect API users or users with two-factor authentication enabled.
What about my API integrations?
This feature is limited to human users only, and will not impact API authentication.
What if I have two-factor (2FA) enabled?
IP Location Activation doesn’t affect users with 2FA enabled. IP Location Activation is automatically enabled if you deactivate 2FA.
