NebFest: Team building and Hierbas

Being told on your first day that you need to organise NebFest, a 3-day team building event (abroad) in just 5 weeks’ time didn’t allow for new job jitters. I threw myself in to arranging the best team get-together I could.

With my top-notch organisation skills and a passion for travel, being daunted was no longer an issue!

Collaboration

It’s not often that we are all together for an extended period. Maximising time together was paramount and Palma was perfect for this!

Walking around was a great way to discover this historical city. Hopping on a Segway to take in the main sites was great.

Because we were on Mallorca we had to get some sun in somewhere. Therefore Playa de Illetas became our office for the afternoon. So we got right to building upon our collaboration skills. We gave the ‘tennis ball throwing whilst bobbing in the sea’ competition a good go!

Everyone enjoyed the wonderful local foods and tried Hierbas, the Mallorcan digestif. Although it was not quite to everyones taste…

Flexibility

We pride ourselves on being a flexible working place. Seven members of our team work from home full-time. We met in a new place, which strengthened our bond because we were all in the same boat.

We explored new corners of the city together. The drive to do the best we can for our customers has strengthened too because we are able to work even closer.

Trust

I was instantly trusted with arranging a trip that had been on the radar for a while, and it was a wonderful way to be included from the get-go.

I am proud to work for a company that makes sure each individual is part of the team. There is continuous encouragement, and it allows you to focus your attention on whatever task you are doing because you know that the team are always there whenever you need them.

Empowerment

Making that effort with your team and colleagues always pays off. Empowering your team members is refreshing. I encourage you to do one thing on a weekly or monthly basis. Take lunch together, go for a team stroll, and build those bonds.

Now that we’re back in the UK it’s about time I got on with my next task – we’re moving office (don’t worry, we’ll be in the same building!) There’s some growing going on at Nebula and we’ve got a new member of the team to welcome, stay tuned here to find out more!
